I first met Jonathan Fields in 2002-2003 when I completed my yoga teacher training at Sonic Yoga, an amazing and top-rated yoga studio which Jonathan founded in New York City. His capacity to speak the truth about what really matters in life with tremendous insight, nuance, humor and warmth always struck me and does even more today through his current venture, Good Life Project (GLP). GLP is a global movement that inspires, educates, connects and supports mission-driven individuals in the quest to live better, more engaged, connected and aligned lives. His blog and Facebook postings always grab my attention, give voice to things I've been thinking but didn't have words for or things I hadn't thought of but need to seriously consider in terms of how I approach my life, entrepreneurship and creativity. He is a savvy entrepreneur, author and media wiz with heart, honesty and humility, humor and more than a touch of hipness. For all of these reasons I created this work of art in his honor. Depicted here is one of Jonathan's favorite songs, "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. I chose an excerpt which I think speaks to the quality I most appreciate in Jonathan: he is a free thinker and thought leader who inspires countless others (myself included) to pursue and find freedom in their dreams.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;

None but ourselves can free our minds.

Have no fear for atomic energy,

'Cause none of them can stop the time...

Won't you help to sing

These songs of freedom? -

'Cause all I ever have:

Redemption songs

Redemption songs

Redemption songs.

The colors are in honor of Bob Marley. 2014. Decoupage paper, tissue paper and thread on paper: 10" x 13" (16" x 20" framed).
